Eagle’s syndrome (Elongated styloid process) an unrecognized rare cause of neck pain: A case illustration

Eagle syndrome is a rare condition characterized by an abnormally elongated styloid process with or without abnormal direction and/or ossification of the ligament. 45-year-old men complaint left-sided neck pain below ear for 3 years. The diagnosis cervical arthrosis was made and physiotherapy advised 2 Three-dimensional Computed tomography scan revealed bilateral processes: both processes were found to be longer than normal. No vascular compression documented. Surgery but patient has refused. management conservative non-steroid analgesics antalgics. These symptoms are not specific because related this can confused those attributed wide variety disorders including facial neuralgias, oral, otologic, spinal diseases. Diagnosis appropriate radiological examination specially cranial 3D CT scan. treatment Eagle's primarily surgical. shortened through intraoral external approach. Neurosurgeons, Otolaryngologists, dental surgeons should aware existence incidence clinical entity, which associated reduced quality life.

Unilateral elongated styloid process: a case report

An unusual case of a unilaterally elongated styloid process with a length of 5.8 cm was found on a dry skull of a male cadaver. During his life the subject was complaining for reported ipsilateral otalgia presumably due to nerve compression from the elongated styloid process.
